SIGNATURE HIGHLIGHTS

A Reception Without a Traditional Stage

Rather than spending the evening behind a stage, the couple moved through the venue and personally greeted friends and family, making the reception feel genuinely social.

A Baraat with Family Identity

Different safas were planned for the two sides of the family, creating an easy visual distinction within the baraat.

An Evening That Kept Evolving

The dinner moved from a live band into a DJ-led after-party, with mixology continuing the energy through the night.

THE BRIEF

Tarun and Raedita brought approximately 500 guests together at Taj Lands End across two days. The first day moved from lunch and Roka into the Sangeet, while the second day culminated in the wedding, dinner and after-party.

Taj Lands End offers multiple adaptable indoor and outdoor event spaces, including large lawns, making it possible to create different moods without compromising the luxury-hotel experience.

THE MAIN CHALLENGES

The key objective was to keep a 500-guest wedding personal. The couple did not want the reception to become a conventional stage-led evening, so the planning needed to create natural opportunities for them to interact with guests.

The two-day programme also needed different levels of energy, moving from a relaxed afternoon into the Sangeet and then into the wedding and late-night celebration.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

A Clear Guest Communication System

A wedding website or app can hold the complete itinerary, venue maps, dress guidance and timings, with WhatsApp used for event-specific reminders. This allows the hospitality team to focus on personal requests rather than repeatedly communicating basic information.

A Relaxed Opening

The first afternoon began with lunch and a live musician, allowing guests to settle into the celebration before the Roka and Sangeet.

Keeping the Mehendi Social

The bride completed her main Mehendi prior to the Sangeet, while a few Mehendi artists remained available during the evening for guests. This allowed the tradition to continue as a social experience without taking the bride away from the celebration.

Sangeet Hospitality

Mixology bartenders added an interactive cocktail experience, giving guests another point of engagement beyond the stage programme.

A Family-Led Baraat

The groom entered on horseback, with different safas for the two sides of the family. A simple visual detail became a way of bringing both families into the procession.

A Reception Built Around People

The couple deliberately avoided a traditional reception stage. Instead, they moved through the venue, greeting friends and family. The planning team’s role was to keep the evening moving while protecting this freedom for the couple.

Music That Carried the Evening

A live band performed through dinner before the atmosphere transitioned into a DJ-led after-party. The change in music marked a natural shift in the evening rather than an abrupt end to dinner.

A More Personal Way to Celebrate

Small experiential details can be layered into the day - a personalised cocktail menu, a guest message station or a dedicated photo moment—without changing the couple’s decision to keep the reception informal and people-focused.

A wedding website or app can support this format with the complete itinerary, venue map, dress guidance and key contacts, while scheduled WhatsApp reminders can quietly keep guests informed before each function. For a 500-guest city wedding, this creates clarity without making the experience feel overly managed.

Because the couple chose not to have a conventional reception stage, the guest experience depended on the evening flowing naturally around them. A central hospitality team could manage timing, guest requests and vendor cues while the couple remained free to move through the venue and spend meaningful time with their friends and family.

THE FINAL OUTCOME

The wedding remained elegant without becoming overly formal. By prioritising interaction over a fixed reception stage and using music, mixology and guest-focused hospitality to shape the programme, the celebration felt warm, social and genuinely centred around the people who came to celebrate with the couple.
